The 15th International Film Festival Bratislava took place, for the first time, in the pleasant ambiance of five city theatres from 6 to 12 November and offered its visitors the most interesting films of the contemporary world cinematography. The Grand Prix of the 15th IFF Bratislava for Best Film and the Viewers Award was awarded to the debut film Class Enemy by a talented Slovenian director Rok Bicek.
The Broken Circle Breakdown by Belgian director Felix van Groeningen has scored big on many film festivals. It was placed in the section Stories – Films of Human Strength as it is all about human strength and the lack of it.
Asghar Farhadi is arguably the most prominent Iranian director of the past decade. He is known especially for films About Elly (Berlinale Silver Bear for Best Director) and A Separation (Berlinale Golden Bear, Academy Award).
Turkish director Mahmut Fazil Coskun won the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam IFF with his debut film, Wrong Rosary. His second feature, Yozgat Blues, competed at the feature film competition at IFF Bratislava.
